Gateway AI in EDU Summit

Learners evaluate scenarios to determine what constitutes misuse of AI, then explore the Red Light, Yellow Light, Green Light method for categorizing assignments. Through interactive instruction, participants develop a personalized artifact they can use with their syllabi to establish clear, consistent AI guidelines — and leave with scenario-based activities ready for classroom implementation.

Participants work through realistic classroom scenarios in small groups — taking on the perspectives of students, teachers, and school leaders to stress-test common AI rules and assignments. Together, they identify where 'AI policy' protects thinking and where it quietly breaks down in practice. The session shifts into redesign: participants revise assignments, classroom expectations, and governance moves so that AI use supports student thinking instead of replacing it.

This session focuses on shifting administrative leadership from 'task-mastery' to 'diplomatic influence' by using AI to personalize staff growth. Activities include an AI Sandbox where leaders use prompts to generate differentiated VARK-style resources and a diplomatic coaching simulation to script difficult conversations with resistant staff. Participants leave empowered to use technology as a surgical tool for influence.
